Creating open-source strategy game engine

In August 2017, I've discovered an open-source clone of Travian, version 3.6. At that exact moment, I instantly knew what I'm going to do for the next big project - a brand sparkling new, open-source, PHP-based Browser Strategy Game Engine.
I've been employed by many companies in the past, some fairly small, some fairly local (Jablotron), some big shots like IBM. Because these were long-established businesses, I didn't quite fit in, since I wanted to do something out-of-the-box, which wan't tampered and directed by the big-money management, while keeping it fun and contemporary. You know... like Google guys did when they started their office meetings with paper wars on exercise balls with their potential CEOs.
